luce multipurpose seating wins the “good design award 2011″
okamura’s ergonomic multi-purpose seating luce won the good design award in 2011. the good design award hosted by the japan industrial design promotion organization is awarded for products with good designs and it is the one and only comprehensive award in japan. this year marks the 55th anniversary of the good design award. since then, 1,112 products have been awarded among 3,162 entries.

the good design award is hosted by the japan industrial design promotion organization and it has been a sole comprehensive design award. since 1957, it has been awarding designs such as industrial products, architecture, housing, applications, services communication design, business model design among other from all over the world. the “G Mark” has been a symbol of exquisite design for more than 55 years.
luce multi-purpose seating is developed in collaboration with the italian industrial design firm, giugiaro design. the luce uses the technologies created for the leopard that provides a perfect fit with your body throughout all postural changes from sitting to standing. its “smart relaxation” mechanism absorbs most of the impact from your body when you sit down and provides a relaxing softness under you, regardless of your height or weight. this chair is particularly suitable for active work scenarios where you are required to stand up frequently and are rarely seated for a long time. in addition to its use as an ergonomic multi-purpose office chair, it is also an attractive item for the home. with its distinctive forward-leaning shape, the luce was the product of research into improved seat-cradle design undertaken by a collaboration with okamura, experts in advanced seating design, and OKI, specialists in robot applied technology.
