Lualdi: Reinforcing the Value of Doors
Oftentimes, we view doors in the built environment for their functionality. Among many others, they provide access to a space; separate areas with different uses; ensure security and privacy; support ventilation; and even slow the spread of fire.
In properties of the luxurious kind, doors serve as statement pieces. Whether through their sheer size, thoughtful design or materials used in their production, they can help elevate a space beyond their practical purposes.
Italian door specialist Lualdi
Renowned for its premium designer doors as well as custom-made furniture and mill work, Lualdi thrives on such endeavour, merging advanced technology and production techniques with high-end traditional craftsmanship for sophisticated spatial design.
Founded in the mid-19th century, this global brand achieved a milestone in the second half of the 20th century when it launched the LCD, a lacquered-coated polyester film. Arising from its close collaboration with architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni, the launch introduced industrial design to the production doors with its industrial-grade, high-performance finishes.
Project Highlight
Bosco Verticale, located in Milan’s Porta Nuova district, is one of the world’s most celebrated residential buildings, not just for its architecture, but for its multifaceted foliage. The 800 trees, 4,500 shrubs and 20,000 plants that form this vertical biodiversity improve air quality and create a natural microclimate that regulates temperatures in the surrounding urban area.
It is within this iconic residential development that Lualdi had the honor of supplying and installing doors for every room in each residential unit at Bosco Verticale. The result is a tailor-made residential project that reflects Lualdi’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge design solutions for contemporary living.
